God Has the Best Plan

Rev. Ronnie Wilson brought the evening message.

James 4: 13-17 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

We are not to boast about tomorrow. We don't know what it will hold. Remember God has the best plan, no matter what tomorrow brings.

Peter had fished all night and caught nothing. Jesus told him to cast out his nets again on the other side; he caught more fish than he could handle. God had a plan.

David was a shepherd. Samuel anointed him king. David saw Goliath curse the God of Israel. Goliath had a plan– to kill David. God had one as well. A shepherd boy, a would-be king, allowed God to use him. God did the rest for He had a plan.

God had a plan for me. I had never really been sick in my life, but in 2000 I ended up in the hospital in need of a quadruple bypass. A few days later I came home. On the third day I felt extremely bad and ended up back in the hospital with a major staph infection. A coma was induced, and I remained that way for six weeks. Many things happened during this time. After 19 months of recovery I was back in church. A deacon asked me if Id like to go visiting at the local hospital. Prior to my illness I had asked God to give me patience and compassion. When I went into the room that day I looked upon the face of a woman in obvious pain. I felt her pain that day. I knew that God had used my illness to give me compassion.

Judges 7 tells of the story of Gideon. He had a large army that could adequately defeat the enemy of God. However, God had a plan. Little by little God trimmed the size of the army. On the night of the battle, the Israelites did not kill anyone but won the victory. God's plan– use a trumpet, a pitcher, and a light to confuse the enemy. Gideon's army blew their trumpets, broke their pitchers and let their lights shine. In fear and confusion the army fled.

God has a plan. We need to trust him that his plan is being fulfilled no matter what happens. Romans 8:28 tells us and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

You are in his plan. It is his plan that all be saved. All of us need to get into God's plan. Remember God has the best plan, no matter what the morrow brings.
