It’s Past Time

It’s Past Time: I Corinthians 15:8.

In the verses prior to verse eight, Paul repeats the phrase “after that” a few times when he speaks of others who saw Jesus. In verse eight he says “last of all.” Paul states “and last of all he (Jesus) was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.” In other words Paul says he should have met Jesus sooner. Every time someone had gone to Jesus Paul could have gone, but he didn’t. As a member of the Sanhedrin, Saul (Paul) would have known much of Jesus, even been in the same places. He had more than one opportunity to come to Jesus, but he did not. The Lord knew him. It wasn’t on the Damascus Road that God decided to save Saul. He had known him all along and called him many times. In Saul’s efforts to get away from Jesus, he persecuted the church thereby persecuting the Lord he was running from. But Jesus loved him still. In verse eight he readily admits it was due time AND PAST TIME for him to accept the Lord and be saved. Just the fact that you are here today proves God is seeking you one more time. If you have a past due water bill, you get a small grace period. If it’s not paid the water is turned off. You have one more chance today. When an opportunity for salvation has been extended and refused, it’s then past time. Your time is today.

We praise the Lord for the salvation of two people in the service this morning.
